Safety first

Out of traffic, neutral / park, ignitions off. No metal jewelry. Confirm poles: red +, black −.

Jump pack (preferred)

A motorcycle / lithium-capable pack is the cleanest fix. + to +, − to the specified ground / chassis point. Remove the pack once running; do not leave it paralleled for long.

Jumping from a car

Possible but risky: car alternators can dump high current. Prefer car engine off or idle, connect + then ground; reverse order to remove.

  • Switch accessories off
  • Red: donor + → bike +
  • Black: donor − → bike chassis (when the maker prefers chassis over battery −)
  • Once running, remove cables and ride / charge 15–20 minutes

LiFePO4 and sensitive ECUs

On lithium-equipped bikes, read the maker’s jump procedure; some limit pack voltage / BMS behavior. A bump / clutch push-start can be an option on geared bikes.

Afterward

If it dies again, chase parasitic draw or charging faults. Warning lights: Motorcycle Warning Lights: FI, Oil, ABS Explained. Storage tenders: Motorcycle Winter Storage Guide: Battery, Fuel, Tires, Moisture
