Motorcycle Spring Maintenance: From Storage to the First Ride
How to wake a motorcycle after winter storage: battery, tires, fluids, brakes, chain, fuel, first start, and a short test ride. No invented intervals.
Storage and spring wake-up are different jobs

Read the service history first
Before you wake the bike, open the last oil, brake fluid, coolant, tire date, and chain-set notes. ‘It sat, so it needs nothing’ is not what most manuals say. A 12-month oil line still fills with the bike parked.

Battery and electrics
Check voltage and clean terminals before you unplug a maintainer. A slow starter, dim headlight, or a warning lamp often means a winter-flat battery. Lithium and AGM rules differ. Follow the cold-charge note in the battery guide.

Tires, brakes, controls
Flat spots, cracked sidewalls, and low pressure are common after winter. Set sticker pressure cold. A light flat spot can round out on a short ride. Visible cord means the tire is done.

Fluids, chain, fuel

Leaks, pests, cover residue

First start and test ride
